LOT#57

Director / writer

Lot#57 is an impressionistic film shot on the Upfield train line, which, for 49 years, bore coffins to Fawkner Cemetery, passing within metres of people’s homes.

The work is based on interviews with strangers along the Upfield Line, discussing cultural notions of death and associated memories. In response to the research, the work explores how the passage of time highlights and warps our memories. The film sits somewhere between filmed photographs and the way we dream.
